Everything is nicely groomed. Tomorrow morning’s corduroy will be nice.
Some snowy weeknight fun, intense bungee pulling competition, more downhill runs and strength from our juniors! Huge thank you to our awesome volunteer coaches!
And our amazing groomers are working hard on catching up with all the new snow but it is a LOT of work for many evenings after their day jobs! Hug a groomer (and have a look at their awesome Grooming Report / Trail Status!

Tom and Travis groomed all trails including the meadow loop. There is a lot of fresh snow and the trails look great right now!
Hey Snowshoe Fans,
We are going to take advantage of the snow in town + cold temperatures. Meet at the LA County Ice Rink, 4475 West Road, at 5:30 PM and we will snowshoe the Reservoir Road. As usual-all abilities welcome. Contact me before 4:30 pm if you wish to come. Dress appropriately for temperatures in the 20s + have some energy food and/or snacks with you. Enjoy the day off for those of you that get one.

Nick and I had an adventurous grooming session this evening. The snow was surprisingly deep, probably 10 inches, with much deeper drifts in sections. We got stuck in three places on the lower end of the meadow and had to work our way out.
There were two trees down; one between Dave’s and TJ’s, and another on the switchback above point J. I tried to use minimal chainsaw cuts on the trees to avoid sawdust on the trails, so we may need to do a bit more pushing on the logs to get them fully off the trail when we have an extra set of hands.
In the end, we did three passes on the lower road out to the top of the meadow (no passes on the big meadow loop), and one pass on the upper trails.
Go HERE to view the results of the DIY club races, TTs, biathlons, etc. — recently updated with this weekend’s “A-to-A” time trial and the BB gun biathlon.
This past Sunday the Southwest Nordic Club held a BB gun biathlon on the 1.4 kilometer loop at the top of the meadow. Sixteen juniors and seven adults raced on freshly groomed snow under glorious bluebird skies. A highlight of the day was a mini clinic taught by our club’s resident biathlon expert—former U.S. National Biathlon Team member Laura Spector. Fun was had by all and nobody lost an eye!
Beginner kids clinics and races this weekend were a blast! Lots of Sharks and Minnows, going off jumps and a race course with some some obstacles! Big thanks to our awesome volunteer groomers for their daily work keeping our trails and especially Camp May Rd. safe and fun to ski on for our beginners!
